– Third Season of GHOST ASYLUM Premieres Sunday, April 3 at 10/9c Only on Destination America –
Grab Your Flashlight and Go on a Virtual Ghost Hunt with Discovery VR
(Silver Spring, Md.) – Phantoms, demons, and shadow creatures beware! Destination America’s hit series GHOST ASYLUM is back following the Tennessee Wraith Chasers (TWC) ghost-hunting team as they investigate paranormal activity in America’s most frightening asylums, sanitariums, penitentiaries and haunted hotspots. Respect, detect, collect is TWC’s motto and the core process they follow in every investigation, which combines scientific methodology and ghost-hunting gadgets with Tennessee wit and thirst for adventure. TWC’s goal isn’t just to communicate with restless souls but to help them find peace beyond the gates of their ghostly tomb. GHOST ASYLUM premieres Sunday, April 3 at 10/9c on Destination America with 10 new episodes.
New this season, viewers have the opportunity to become a virtual extension of the TWC team through the GHOST ASYLUM-themed virtual reality experience. Grab a flashlight and join the ghost hunters on an investigation of the extremely haunted Preston Castle, a former boys’ reform school in California. Watch the castle come to life with paranormal activity while searching for the spirit of a former ward named Nicholas and use ghost-hunting gadgets to make contact with the other side.
“The Wraith Chasers’ bravery is unmistakable, as their quest to collect paranormal evidence trumps any fear of spending the night in places so dark they could inspire horror movies,” said Jane Latman, general manager of Destination America. “Through the exhilarating new opportunity provided by virtual reality, we’re excited to give fans the chance to see for themselves if they have what it takes to be a ghost hunter like the fearless team of GHOST ASYLUM.”
The GHOST ASYLUM virtual reality experience is brought to life through Discovery VR, a cross-network digital offering that debuted in August 2015 which currently boasts a dynamic collection of more than 70 short-form videos. It is available on multiple platforms including: DiscoveryVR.com; through the Discovery VR iOS and Android apps; and across the Littlstar network (including Apple TV and the Samsung Gear VR).
Viewers who don’t have VR technology can still virtually take part in the ghost hunt! A 360-degree video of the experience will be available on DiscoveryVR.com as well as Destination America’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Use arrow keys to look left, right, up and down as you progress through the castle.
Locations this season include Peoria Asylum in Bartonville, Ill.; Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City; Castillo de San Marcos, one of the country’s oldest military forts, in St. Augustine, Fla.; and Old South Pittsburg Hospital in Tennessee. The premiere episode takes place aboard the USS Edson, a decommissioned naval destroyer docked in Bay City, Mich.
GHOST ASYLUM is produced for Destination America by Tremendous! Entertainment with Colleen Needles Steward, Shannon Keenan Demers, and Rob Hammersley as executive producers. For Destination America, Fay Yu is executive producer, Jane Latman is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination America, and American Heroes Channel.

I have yet to hear a peep about a new season for Ghost Asylum and definitely getting a little worried. It’s been over a year now and Ghost Brothers started their new season a couple of weeks ago but where are the Wraith Chasers? Ghost Brothers is entertaining, at best, but it certainly is nowhere near as good as Ghost Asylum and for the life of me I can’t understand why a network wouldn’t keep it’s best paranormal show going, leaving us with the half-baked, goofy, entertainment-purposes-only still going strong. Let me guess, this is a left thing, isn’t it? Did someboy at Destination America find out the boys voted for Trump? Oh, wait, is this about them being Christians and all? The little prayer they do before starting an investigation? Did a few big Jew commercial sponsors decide to pull out? I sure as hell hope I am wrong. If Ghost Asylum doesn’t come back I am done with Destination America. The acting on “My Haunted House” is so terrible I find myself wishing I had gotten into acting years ago because I could out-act these actors even on my worst days – I can’t finish most episodes and they are only a half hour each, so that’s pretty bad. Also, after the show returns from commercial break, you need to stop showing 5 minute recaps – it’s as though you start the show over after every commercial – make up your minds, either lenghten the program or shorten them enough to include 3 stories instead of 2, truly awful formatting. The stories are becoming more & more unbelievable and the one on tonight absolutely copied, verbatim, a scene out of a 1990 Stephen King movie – totally lame & definitely a new low for this show.
